Fire Silva Vote NO
Albuquerque, NM
|
A vote for this selfish fool is a vote for Rick McInturd, which means nothing but more of the same for Deming/Luna. People of Deming, where are the merits of his leadership? All he has done is follow the status quo. Are all of you so ignorant that you would allow this man to continue to run our town into the ground? It is time for a Republican or Independenant Mayor who will fire Rick and clean up the fraud and deception down at City Hall. Time for Deming to come before the selfish desires of those who have already been shown to be failures. Please do not elect this fraud.

The way some of us are commenting on how corrupt certain city/county officials are, perhaps it's best we get rid of most of them when the time comes and start fresh, beginning with a brand new mayor. With what's been happening around here over a long period of time, I think most of us would like to give Deming a makeover with new people at the helm. What say you people ? Is there anyone honest enough out there, with good credentials, to run against Silva and the others ? On second thought, if we had all honest people running Deming then what could we contribute to this Forum.....heck, there wouldn't be anything to write about would there ?

Well, it seems we have quite a variety of opinions concerning our present Mayor Silva. Some say he's horribly selfish, elderly abusing (whatever that means), money hungry, and some say he's a better choice than anyone else, others don't think he should run again, one said we need a new mayor. Anyone out there qualified for this position that's actually honest, unselfish, and not money hungry ? If so, please step forth and apply for this position right away. Let's get someone in office that's all of the above, plus young, energetic, and fresh with new ideas.

According to Silva, he had four main areas of focus in his 2006 campaign platform: economic development, infrastructure, education and family values. Let us visit his areas of concern. Economic Development: The State of New Mexico bailed out Proper Foods saving 150 jobs while Silva takes the credit for essentially saving the business. He has had 3 ½ years to re-establish the city’s economic development office which has been sluggish for a very long time. Where are the new businesses, low pollution manufacturing industries and good paying jobs? If I were Mayor, I would push to hire an accredited economic development coordinator who possesses the appropriate knowledge, contacts and success to invigorate the department. Infrastructure: Silva boasts on the 3 million gallon water storage tank and the expansion of gas, water and sewer lines southwest of the city. To be a bearer of bad news, the water storage tank and water line extensions were part of the city’s 40-year water plan, adopted by city council in 1997, a whole 9 years BEFORE he became mayor. The gas and sewer lines were included in the city’s January 2003 comprehensive plan, 3 years before becoming mayor. Education: Silva points to the city’s support of the After School Program. This program was established by the city, county and Deming Public Schools before his term as mayor so it is an ongoing effort. His roundtable is a good idea but talk is cheap…where are the results? He failed to say that the STAR program was shelved during his term due to inadequate funding. Wonder what other programs he left out. Family Values: Silva doesn’t comment on this subject. When all is said and done, Mayor Silva hasn’t accomplished much in 3 ½ years at the helm.

First, for "Fire Silva, Vote NO"--Silva is a Republican. I'm sure to you he's not a "real" Republican, whatever that means today. And anyway, independent is usually code for ex-Republican who thinks the brand name is tarnished. Nice try, though. For most of the rest: It's one thing to gripe on the forums, it's another to do something about it. Is one of you mouth breathers gonna actually run, or just keep posting in this echo chamber?

In my case independent is "code" for ex-Democrat who thinks the brand name is tarnished. Nice try though.

I don't think most of us "mouth breathers" would be qualified to run for mayor. I don't know what it takes to run, but I'd think you'd have to have some political background or knowledge or had served the community in some capacity. I'm sure most of us are just everyday working people, some of us retired here. If a resident of Deming, someone that just moved here, would run for mayor against someone who has a background in local politics......who do you think would win ? But to voice an opinion on this forum (sounds a bit better than saying we're griping)or giving our comments would help in making decisions on certain matters, sometimes at least. I see people saying some awful things about certain public servants, mean things about Deming residents, and maybe they know these people a lot better than I do, but I can't go just by what they're saying, I would like an example of why they are saying these things. What did this person do for you to say they are dishonest, money hungry, etc.? When I read WHY they are getting called these names, then it may determine how I will vote. I've never really been involved in local politics, that is until I moved here, now I read this forum, read the newspaper on-line, and listen to other people, but I don't want to read gossip, or comments from people with a personal agenda against someone, I'd like to know the reason you love them or hate them, not so much local residents that may have commited an offense/crime, more about the politicians, city fathers, leaders of the community, whatever you want to call them, that's what I'm trying to learn more about. Everyone has opinions, but when you're saying negative things about certain people, follow up with WHY you're saying these things. What I suppose I'm going to have to start doing is going to these public town hall meetings and listen to what's being talked about, have to start somewhere right ?

Ask Mayor Silva why he lost his city credit card early in his administration? Silva is a phoney snake/oil preacher. And is other busisness is a (bordering on illegal/unethical) payday loan type establishment. Seriously, we can do better than this for a mayor.

Thank you NewsNotes for all that info, will certainly make a copy of this and attend what I can.
I really don't believe ALL politicians are crooks, but by the way people speak of them, this city needs a change in certain areas.
Why did Mayor Silva lose his credit card early in his administration ? Mmmm, let me guess......he used it to pay for personal items maybe ? Is it illegal to own a business of your own if you're a mayor or hold another office ? Just wondering....

This mayor hires a new assistant city engineer. Digging his specialty. Birds of a feather. Mimbres Court Evidence Volume 54 Number 1, Three men have been arrested for digging up potsherds at the East Fork site, a Mimbres settlement in New Mexico's Gila National Forest. The looters, Aaron Sera and brothers James and Michael Quarrell. Officers of the Forest Service Law Enforcement Agency had earlier found evidence of digging and had placed a seismic sensor in the area to monitor human activity. One month later, the sensor was activated and officers caught the men looting the site. The vessels, often associated with burials, were likely placed on the head of the deceased, whose soul escaped through a hole punched in the bottom. The act also prohibits the trafficking of artifacts wrongfully removed from sites.

I'm an Indie...was a dem and republ...so much for stereotypes, huh? If Silva is a Republican then he is still worthless. I dont care about affiliation, only in this case the Dems have run and controlled this state and this city for over 75 years and have run it into the ground. It is time for anybody else who is not in bed with locals in govt. Not Andy Silva wrote: First, for "Fire Silva, Vote NO"--Silva is a Republican. It is time for anybody else who is not in bed with locals in govt. <quoted text> Statehood New Mexico, 1912. Today, 2009. Thats 97 Years. Demon Crats have virtually controlled this State for 97 Years and counting... And you expect dhange? As Homer Simpson would say..."DOH"... Vote the person, yes. But right now I see the worst financial crisis in the History of this nation and this State advancing... and who's at the helm again? Demoncrats. Time for a change? Then give the Republicans a chance to offer one... at least they have some 30 percent of voter registrations now, independant only have 10... If they screw it up, it'll be easy to put the DEMON CRATS BACK INTO POWER... I say give give the GOP 10 years... I don't think any more than 10 years will be nessassary, and that would be about 1/10th the time it takes them to mess it up or fix it. VOTE REPUBLICAN 2010, 2012, 1014, 1016, 1020 FOR ALL LOCAL AND SATTE OFFICES. The only reason for you not to vote GOP is if the GOP has noone running for that office, then vote INDEPENDANT...ANYTHING BUT DEMONCRAT!
