Thanksgiving holiday will force a change in garbage collection this week Posted: Monday, November 23rd, 2009 One of the garbage haulers serving Decorah says their routes will change this week because of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Winneshiek Medical Center Foundation and Gundersen Lutheran-Decorah Clinic are making health care more available by offering mammograms screenings free of charge to local under or uninsured women on December 8 & 9. Free mammography screenings are for women age 40 and older, or those at high risk.

Work has begun on a project to reshape the pond behind Decorah High School that is informally referred to as 'Lake Roberts.' The project involves shifting the pond toward the dike by removing 5500 cubic yards of dirt from the north side of the pond, and filling the south side of the pond with 3500 cubic yards of that dirt.
