What part is difficult for you to understand? First, I will agree with you about to each his own. But here's the part you apparently miss. This country has laws and rules whether we agree with them or not. In a government facility, especially a court room, it is required to view the face of a witness, plaintiff and others. It is necessary to view the faces in order to help eliminate criminal acts. If everyone wore a hijab, face mask, scarf, etc., which hinders the face in any way, then crimes would be twofold and most unsolvable due to lack of identification. Why do you think people with mask hoods can't enter these buildings either? Now, you tell me what you would do if someone who was disguised killed a loved one of yours and was never caught because they were wearing an outfit which clearly removed any evidence of gender? The bottom line is simple, Freedom is not entirely free. Rules and laws are mandated for reasons. Yes, some reasons are asinine but some are properly placed. This is one of them.

You are a naive one, aren't you. Do you realize how much the US is paying for oil? Do you not observe the wealth and luxuries of the Emir and the people? Their main source of income is oil and they are filthy rich from oil. If the US was stealing, they would have NOTHING. Wake up!

Again, I'll revert back to the argument that if this woman had been wearing a nun's habit she would not have been forced to remove it.

Also, a nun would not object nor sue the government if she had to remove it.

Hijab is just like a nun cover. It's a hair cover and Mary used to waer it. A face cover is not an Islamic sign it's a some contries tradition and it's not a must. Don't hate Islam.

Some hijabs come with a veil to cover the face as well. I am unaware if this specific case included the veil. Regardless of it a Muslim woman or a nun, the judge asked her to remove it. If someone can confirm that judge asked a Muslim woman and not a nun, then you have a legitimate argument. Otherwise, he asked her to do so in a court of law and she should have done so. As I stated, nuns do not have a problem with it...ask them. Helpme wrote: Don't hate Islam. This is a perfect example of why society is screwed up with turmoil because people like you make inaccurate assumptions. You ignore the FACTS and fail to apply the situation as it would follow for everybody then assume people HATE when they present you with the logical accuracies. I don't hate Islam, I hate people like you who ignore logic and make assumptions.

According to the "Arab American News" this was the comment after the judge asked her to remove her hijab. In response to Judge Callahan's direction, "No hats allowed in the courtroom," Ms. Albaghdady allegedly responded, "Okay, it doesn't matter," and immediately removed her head covering, without protest or explanation, according to the statement. Key words are "It doesn't matter" and now she is stating humiliation. What a crock!

Anybody who posted a comment along the line of "go back home" is bigot and an idiot. Not even worth saying anything else to them. Only thing worth noticing is the sheer volume of haters. Do the fair balanced people out there don’t blog, or is this really a representation of how people in this area think when they know they can say what they want anonymously? I hope it’s the first. This is a nation of laws, and the separation of church and state does not cancel the first amendment which protects freedom of religion. Muslim women who choose to wear the Hijab are free to practice a religion that says they can not show their hair in the company of foreign men. Understand it or not, practice it or not, it don't matter. They believe it, and the law protects it. End of story. Now, if the court wanted to ID the woman, that is fine. Provide a lady officer to ID her in a private room. Boom, what a crazy concept. Law upheld w/o breaking her religious rights. Don’t use the law as an excuse to strip people of freedoms guaranteed by the law, specially when an easy alternative exists. That’s asinine. And how could something like this happen in Dearborn Height? The judge said he did not know the scarf was religious? Metro Detroit is one of the (if not the) largest Muslim communities in the US. I don’t think anybody in Metro Detroit does not know what a Hijab is.

Item 9 wrote: <quoted text> No what is wrong is that a muslim women can expect to think her religion grants her rights under the law. This is the US with a seperation of church and state FOR A REASON! Religion does indeed sometimes grant rights under American law, but those accommodations need to be reasonable and justified. For example, if a Jewish man or a Muslim woman is a police officer, they can wear their yarmulke or head-cover instead of the regular police cap. Doing so will not impede their work, and that person is putting their life on the line to keep Americans safe. But covering one's face obstructs the whole purpose of the I.D.--- identification! The real problem with this woman is not about being anti-Muslim. It's about being anti-ridiculous! She's behaving like a spoiled brat who thinks throwing a tantrum will get her what she wants. The only thing it will get her is a dunce-cap. And as for "suing the judge," that is not just plain b.s., but dinosaur turds. Judges normally have immunity for precisely this sort of situation. They can only be penalized if evidence surfaces that they purposely acted out of malice or corruption. Not for delivering an honest judicial opinion. She can appeal the decision, but no way can she sue the courts. Too bad the judge can't sentence her for being a crybaby wasting taxpayers' money.

Vivek Golikeri wrote: <quoted text> But covering one's face obstructs the whole purpose of the I.D.--- True 100%. But this is about her wearing a Hijab (which covers hair), not a borqua (which covers face. cultural, not an islamic thing). Her face was visible, forhead to chin (see the youtube video or picture in the article). Positive ID could have been made w/o taking the hijab off. And again, a female officer could have been provided to make an ID if hair type or color was neccisary to make the ID. This would have costed alot less than say, having different language texts for driver license tests (which is payed for by tax payers money, by the way). And it would have avoided this law suit, which is costing more tax payers money.
