Copper thieves victimize eastern Missouri church again
<![CDATA[DE SOTO, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri church where thieves took more than $4,000 worth of copper wire in June has been victimized again. KMOV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1bfTCq8 ) about 2,000 feet of copper wire was taken late Sunday from De Soto Christian Church in Jefferson County. Police say the wire ran from a utility pole to a service panel on the side of the church. The thieves also broke out a light and covered a surveillance camera during the incident. De Soto Police Chief Dan Contarini says the wire was "live," meaning whoever stole it would have to know how to work with electricity and have the right tools. Church personnel say the stolen wire was again worth $4,000 to $5,000, but total damage is estimated at around $22,000. ------ Information from: KMOV-TV, http://www.kmov.com
