Police target DWI
If you plan to drink at that big Super Bowl party or any other time this weekend, you'd best avoid driving in Arlington.
From 5 p.m. today until at least 4 a.m. Monday, Arlington police will have a zero-tolerance policy for anyone driving while intoxicated. They're calling it a 'No Refusal Weekend.'
That means warrants will be sought against anyone taken into custody on suspicion of DWI who refuses to provide a breath or blood sample, Sgt. Chad Gann said. In other words, a suspected drunken driver won't be able to refuse a breath or blood test. Fort Worth police ran a similar campaign over New Year's; Dalworthington Gardens police keep the program running year-round and have been trained to take blood samples. Read more
