The woman accused of stealing a baby from a Kentwood church nursery will undergo a psychiatric examination after her attorney on Tuesday said Tabitha Reid likely does not understand the felony charges she faces.

A 19-year-old church volunteer is in the Kent County Jail after a 12-month-old child was taken from the worship center's nursery and discovered at the volunteer's home shortly there after Sunday.

Police say Tabitha Reid visited two other churches Sunday before taking an 11-month-old girl from her own church -- a crime that confounded her family and the baby's parents.
