Downey settles wrongful death shooting for $4.5 million

The family of Michael Nida, an unarmed South Gate man shot in the back and killed by a Downey police officer in a case of mistaken identity, agreed to a settlement of $4.5 million in a federal wrongful death suit brought against the city of Downey, attorney Dale Galipo said.
