Cuero residents gathered at Memorial Park on U.S. Highway 87 May 17 and 18 to observe Warriors Weekend participants passing through town on the way to a weekend of bay fishing, fellowship and food in Port O'Connor. A parade of veterans on motorcycles followed behind the four tour buses.

The Port Lavaca American Legion Post 167, the Port Lavaca VFW and the Port Lavaca GI Forum will host a Memorial Day ceremony from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bayfront Peninsula Park.

Cuero's Planning and Zoning Commission met Thursday afternoon to hear plans for a new GVEC Customer Service Center to be located across from Cuero High School on East Broadway.

Earlier this year DeWitt Medical Foundation launched "Dream It, Do It Phase II". The project would raise over $1.5 million to build a new Cuero Wellness and Rejuvenation Center.

The Cuero Chamber of Commerce will host the 2013 Miss Cuero Pageant on Saturday, May 11 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Cuero High School cafeteria.

Saturday, May 11 is election day for the City of Cuero General Election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the DeWitt County Elections Office, 115 N. Gonzales in Cuero.
