I agree it is hard for the Firedepartment to call for a mayday or a Firefighter lost trapped or missing inside of a burning building when the dispatch is bussy listening to a police officer writting a traffic ticket. Lets thank safety shall we? Jeffco is a much better dispatch facility.

and dont forget that fire runs on a different channel than police, or the fact that an officer is more likely to be harmed on a traffic stop.

It only takes one fire to kill a trapped firefighter! Police do have a dangerous job however you can't compare the two that's silly. Why wouldn't you want to provide the most safest policies and procedure for all of the Emergency workers. The Fire Department may not be as bussy as Departments to the north but as I said at the begening it only takes one collapsed building to kill one or more Firefighters. And I have heard of Firefighters complaining about radio traffic being covered by police units!

And let's not forget that most of the firefighters in Jefferson County are volunteers. They don't even get paid to run into said burning building. We need to give them every opportunity to successfully and safely complete the job.
