A camp in Northern Wisconsin is serving as a safe haven for veterans across the country, it's for a retreat called "Vet's Journey Home." Every year since 2008, around Memorial Day, 10 veterans of all ages gather at Camp Bird in Crivitz for a retreat to talk with counselors and participate in activities that help them deal with their experiences ... The DNR says this is the first holiday the 50 camp sites are available. Sixteen sites have electricity; the rest are rustic.

Registration forms are now available for the seventh annual Sand Lake Conservation Camp, to be held at Camp Bird near Crivitz, from June 21 to 23.

Summer preparations are underway at Governor Thompson State Park. But as work crews prepare this campground for visitors, there are early signs they'll be sharing them with gypsy moth caterpillars.
