Passenger ferry may return to Port Townsend route
The Keystone-Port Townsend route may be back to passenger-only service for a few weeks later this year when the Steilacoom II goes into drydock for maintenance.
Washington State Ferries Communications Director Marta Coursey said a schedule hasn't been set yet, but the vehicle ferry is expected to be out of service for up to a month.
With no other vessels available to serve the route, the agency will probably end up hiring a private firm to provide service, she said.
Last winter, Port Towsend-based Puget Sound Express provided passenger-ferry service on the route until WSF was able to lease the vehicle ferry Steilacoom II.
