Coupeville Lions host salmon barbecue
The Coupeville Lions Club is continuing an old Coupeville tradition with a Native American salmon barbecue on Sunday, Sept. 7, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Coupeville Town Park, at the corner of N.W. Coveland and N.W. Colburn.
Sockeye salmon filets will be prepared by Rosie James and Bill Bailey of the Samish Tribe over an alder wood fire, and will be accompanied by coleslaw, baked beans, garlic bread and a mint patty, plus samples of Indian fry bread. Coffee and lemonade will also be served.
Tickets are $12, and only 200 will be sold. They are available at Coupeville's Town Hall or by calling 360-678-6480; leave a message including your name, phone number and number of tickets you wish to purchase. They will be held at the "Will Call Window" at the kitchen shelter in the park where payment can be made and tickets picked up starting at 11 a.m. Any remaining tickets will go on sale that morning at 11:30. For more information, call Lion Bob Johnson at 360-678-6480.
