Corta Madera stinks anyway...the algae helps to cover the smell of smugness coming from the rich spoiled people that live there.

Some people think their algae doesn't stink.

I would suggest that this problem with algae around the Bay Area bays is a regional issue, not a local one. There is a similar problem in Vallejo, on San Pablo Bay, and we recently drove across the Dumbarton bridge and I noticed that same smell at the east end wetlands.

This is a real stink for nearby residences & businesses, and something has to be done about it. Of course, the Sierra Club will probably want to declare scum on the bay floor an endangered species.

This is not a joke, our water is polluted, our land in toxic, laugh and joke all you want, the fish will not come back, the water will continue to recede and the air will be more polluted with diesel and other carbon particles. If we do not stop spending, and consuming out land is good as dead...Our entire bay is polluted and landfilled with trash, our bay, the most expensive place in the San Francisco is garbage landfill, its not even real land....I would not buy anything that did not exist on actual dirt....Once again, the entire bay in toxic, the fish already are dying, the people already are, it is hidden and covered up, dare I say genocide....The statistics are altered to serve the united corporate states of the americas

Barry Trailer and his neighbors can afford to clean up there own stuff. The lagoon is artificial and needs constant maintenance. Trailer should poll his neighbors and see who wants to cough up the dough. Maybe he should troll on Craigslist for help with his problems.

If the Sierra Club does as you say, you will be protected.

Buy a boat, drag some sort of large rake-like device around and mop up the clumps of algae. It costs money. If they think the problem is so bad, pitch in the money and find a solution.

doorknob is right; simply stop using fertilizer and the problem will abate. get some community education on it and the problem will go away--the water is deep enough.

The problem with many of these waters is that they lack riparian vegetation, emergent vegetation or sub aquatic macrophytes. We have a tool for cleaning up polluted waterways, while at the same time providing habitat for endangered or listed species. We have several folks in the area who know about the technology, but we have not been able to get any traction yet. We are looking for those who have an environmental stewardship mindset to help us promote new sustainable technologies, such as floating wetlands. Daily Horoscope for December 23

Virgo

Words are flying around in all directions today, and the conversations will be fast and furious. You might face a lot of distractions and interruptions, or you could get caught up in some rather irritable slanging matches with a certain person. The busier you are, the more fraught you'll become and the more likely to go off the deep end.
