Film looks at transgender Navy SEAL

Kristin Beck, the retired Navy SEAL who came out as a transgender person, is the subject of a CNN documentary airing again tonight. Beck served 13 combat tours while an active-duty SEAL, including 12 years spent on Coronado's SEAL Team 1. After retiring as a Navy senior chief, the man known as Chris Beck announced that he would identify himself as Kristin going forward.

Sale of Hotel Del Coronado Most Expensive in California

Plenty of hotels changed hands in San Diego County during the first half of this year, but nowhere in Southern California was there any area that matched the surge in sales recorded in the red-hot San Francisco market. San Diego County, however, can lay claim to the priciest transaction in the state, with the Hotel del Coronado's change in ownership in May. That's according to a half-year sales report released this week by Orange County-based Atlas Hospitality Group, which tracks lodging industry transactions throughout California.

The US Department of Defense informs that Huntington Ingalls Inc., Coronado, California, is being awarded a $24,230,190 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-award-fee contract for USS Ronald Reagan fiscal 2014 planned incremental availability. DoD explains that a planned incremental availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship's military and technical capabilities.
