Some things take a while to update I hope your brother in law is doing well and his entire family, Bless you.

Police arrested five suspects early today, accusing them of going on a two-county crime spree of breakfast diners before attempting to rob and shoot a Catholic bishop in Home Gardens.

After a high-speed pursuit, police arrested the five men on suspicion of attempted murder of Bishop Antonio Garduno at the Our Lady of Tepeyac Orthodox Catholic Church late Tuesday night on the Corona-Riverside border.

Authorities say they started their crime spree at an International House of Pancakes in Industry at 2:45 p.m. and proceeded to rob two Denny's restaurants before arriving at the church shortly before 10 p.m., Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez said.

After passing by one Denny's at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and McKinley Street, the five men passed the church, where they stopped after seeing the bishop's office light on from Magnolia Avenue, Gutierrez said.

The bishop was shot in the stomach area after coming to investigate a ruckus in the church courtyard. The five men then sped away as the bishop called 911 to report he had been shot.

He underwent surgery early this morning at Riverside Community Medical Center and was expected to survive.

"It appears based on this crime spree, they saw an easy target and an opportunity when they saw the light on in the bishop's office," Gutierrez said. "This looks like a crime of opportunity."

Police believe the five men proceeded to rob another Denny's in Norco about an hour later. At that restaurant, one of the suspects, Willis Bagley 38, of Perris, was arrested on suspicion of the armed robbery.

Police said the remaining four suspects arrived at a Denny's in Corona.

After a radio bulletin was issued with a description of the suspects' car from the church shooting, Corona police stopped the car on Interstate 15 near Limonite Avenue, Gutierrez said.

The driver of the car was asked to step out of the car after the stop, but one of the remaining three passengers jumped into the driver's seat and sped away.

Police followed the car in a high speed pursuit that ended in Ontario at 7th Street and Haven Avenue, Gutierrez said.

Police arrested Timonthy Jacquenain, 18 of Pomona, Andrew Swindle, 23, of Pomona, Anthony Coleman, 21, of Chino, Bagley, and Jaccob Buschow, 19, of Pomona, on suspicion of attempted murder and multiple robberies.

Great Job Corona PD!!!

I really wish that the truth about this whole story was revealed, because things aren't always as they may seem. I agree that what these guys did is wrong and that they should be punished for what they did, but this "Bishop" isn't the saint that they are making him out to be. And he was not a random target, or a crime of opportunity... He knows why he was targeted, and the way that he is saying the whole situation went down isn't at all the actual truth.
Tony should enjoy it while it last though, cause the truth has a way of coming out. And when it does, he too will have to pay for the things that he has done...

If I'm hearing you right, these guys targeted the Bishop over abuse of some kind from the past....
I don't think this is defending the crooks, but the story may become more clear.

Jaccob is my nephew and I am in shock. My apologies to the Bishop and other victims. It does not matter what the Bishop has done in the past, this is not how you handle your problems. As far as I know Jaccob didn't know the Bishop.
Jeremy you know my nephew? He is better off with no friends at all then friends like these. My nephew has had a hard life but it is no excuse for his behavior. I truly hope and pray this is bottom for him and he turns his life around. The first step would be getting rid of his current "friends".
