The Homer-Center School Board has approved a resolution that will grant temporary tax-free status to future businesses on a plot of land in Center Township.

The Indiana County commissioners Wednesday approved applications for three separate grants that could net the county more than $160,000. The unusually short agenda for the meeting was dominated by the grants, one each for highway safety, solid waste authority planning and storm water management planning.

Four Democratic candidates are vying for a chance to succeed retiring Center Township Supervisor Ed Solo in Tuesday's primary election.
