Tale of stolen dog gets a happy ending

First of all, I thank God for prevailing, Joe Stevens of Press-Telegram, Daivd Lopez of K-Cal 9 news, LBPD in their time and effort of not giving up and enduring until the end. The community of Long Beach and the surrounding states in your prayers and concerns in getting JOCI back home. Today I can say, "that hope has done it duty". I would really like to thank the Long Beach Business that put up the generous reward of $ 10,000. Also special thanks to Mr. Humphrey and Melissa. Also "Shakey077" I truly thank you for your support and kind words of getting me through the process of the law enforcement procedures and also in you speaking up for Nathan in being able to recall from memory and he did great. Once again, I say thanks for taking time for my family inspite of the world crumbling all around. My heart and prayers goes out to all parents with young children that you will never have to endure this nightmare.

The only way for this story to have a Long Beach ending is for Lucky to attack and kill Joci.

Bravo to all concerned. I am particularly gratified to see the comments of appreciation here written by Annette, Nathan's Mom. It's nice to know that she recognizes all the people, all the effort by so many people, all the public and private expense and hours of labor, which went into returning her son's dog to the family. Nathan is very fortunate to have such a caring Mother. Congratulations to the LBPD for their successful efforts. It was all worthwhile.

Only an animal lower than a dog would steal a kid's dog......a lot of crime and killings and tragedies happen this time of year right before the kids get out of school for summer.And a lot of kids are being held back in school or not graduating because their parents don't know nothing. They not hep em with Math/English?(not!) Then the police have to do what the teachers have been doing all year. Policing. Welcome to Mexico, I mean So. Cal.

I am both relieved and happy that Joci is back. Kudos to the P-T and especially the LBPD and all the others who gave this tragic situation a magical and happy ending.

When a neighborhood or a community steps up and comes together, most crimes can be solved. It gives the police a "home court advantage", and turns the odds in the favor of the good guys.

I am so glad Joci has been found and returned to Nathan. Now we just have to apprehend the young man who stole him, and a part of Nathan's innocence.

I pray this goes to restoring some of Nathan's (and his family's)faith in the humanity of his neighbors and community. I knew the good people of our city would rise to the challenge, and they did. This is why we do what we do, because we KNOW the good far outnumber the bad. Thanks for the reminder Long Beach, this is how WE roll!

I heard these officers on the scanner yesterday when they found the dog. You could hear the excitement in their voice, they were really happy about it. I loved hearing their enthusiasm, it had to be a great feeling to return this dog to its owners. They were "100%" certain they had the right dog and couldnt wait to get it back where it belonged.

I love it guys, job well done!!

Nathan and Mom,

Hold onto Joci. Don't walk the pup(s) without mom present. Mom, carry some pepper spray to dowse any idiot that comes near your boy and dog. P.S. Move to south Long Beach....3rd street and below. Lots of dog lovers here...and kid lovers too! I'm a probation officer and I love it down here. Any individual that would inflict emotional damage on a child like that has no place in society.

What everyone is saying is move out of the black area, and move to the white area.

i'm glad the child got his dog back. but nowadays anywhere in long beach i don't trust my child to walk alone, no matter what part of town you live in.
