Also why don't we start with the U.S. taxpayers grant money at the Catholic Church Sunday when the Mexican Consulate and the church have all the illegal aliens in one spot? That would be a GREAT use of Stonegarden funds.

The article does not explain if ALL the money goes to LCSD or are they sharing the $1.3 million with other police agencies? If so, how much? Please clarify!

We are in a finanical meltdown across the nation. Unemployment is on the rise in New Mexico and at a rate that should alarm everyone...

The Sheriff gets a 1.3 million dollar TAXPAYER funded spending spree for overtime and border security protection etc... Not new hires mind you,but more time for employees already at the feeding trough of the taxpayer.

And he reports a total of 6... Yes ladies and gentelmen...SIX drunk driving arrests...

Talk about bang for your tax dollars.

At the rate they continue to spend tax dollars like water, I say we all go out and get some fake grass and plant it in all the parks in Deming...

Hey it couldn't be more than what... another 2 or 3 million out of the budget? We could even put in some stupid language like "Its for border Security enhancement because the terrorists will not want to burn fake grass..."

I heard most of the money will be used to hire more lawyers for the many law suits filed against the department. Some of the money will be used to re educate the department personal on the correct way to write citations and tickets that will not have to be thrown out of court. Classes will be given to educate department employees on the proper use of government computers. It is said the department will all have to take more classes on sexual harassment and learn the meaning of discrimination , the EEOC I believe will be most accommodating towards them. The money will be used to train these professionals to gain better physical health so they can actually apprehend an individual. Some of the money will be used for weight watchers meetings or TOPS, parenting classes and AAA sponsorships for the many with in the department with alcohol addition. A mentally and physically healthy educated department means a positive future for Deming.

use the money to buy 4 hummers with 50 cal,so the sheriff wont be outgunned by mex army ! and drug cartels if mexico wants a war then the u.s army n.m state police and luna county sheriffs dept should give them one the drug cartels and mex army wont forget !
