Full story: San Bernardino County Sun

Increasing numbers of city employees could face layoffs if their labor unions don't accept a 15 percent pay cut proposed by city leaders - and fast, city officials said Wednesday.

Why does labor always take it on the chin? Why doesn't management take responsibility for its mistakes?

It's a tough thing for all involved and Bob Miller is trying his mightiest to keep a ship on course that has a broken rudder. One can only hope that if or when the City emerges, it puts some change in place to prevent this mess from happening again.

Bob Miller never told the truth a day in his life. He made it through the ranks of the police department by lying and selling out his brother police officers. Now we're supposed to believe he's telling the truth? Funny how no other city is suffering such an immediate crisis. Someone's probably greasing the palms of council members and city officials in an attempt to get a contract that will provide the services that are now provided by the laid off employees. This is the history of Colton and Bob Miller's been an integral part of that history and the good ole boy system.

Well I can see the workers point of view about not wanting to take the pay cut if they are going to get laid off anyways. The question I have is, is there anyway the city can cut a deal with the people who may get laid off about taking another pay cut so they can keep their jobs with the agreement that they at the first opportunity have their pay bumped to equal the 15% pay cut in the future?

I'd lay them all off.

Then re-fill the necessary positions by allowing the prospective employees to bid for the job - low bid wins - with bids starting at minimum wage.

Start by getting rid of a Mayor and Assist. City Manager who have cared about themselves, at the expense of residents and employees.

Leadership begins at the top and we have had none for years and years.

Union Members Unite.....
And then watch the member to your left and to your right receive a pink slip.
They will take a 100% pay cut and you will take a 0% cut.

Lets wait and see which group you are in when the chips fall.

The Union reps are playing chicken with a freight train.
It can't turn or stop fast enough.
The Reps will survive bu as stated above many will not.

Once again, which group will you be in? Are you sure?
Willing to risk your families welfare?

Get rid of those warm and fuzzy projects that the police do, picking up shopping carts and garage sale signs babysitting peoples kids after school let the parents take responsibility for raising the kids for once.

I heard that one of the city council members (I don't remember who or would happily say) has the audacity to request Police patrols to guard his trash cans because he caught someone taking recyclables out of it. This is the mentality of some of Colton's city counsel members

I'm sure it is the same one who
used a former Code Enforcement officer to help him acquire property
via the city's eminent domain procedures.

San Bernardino needs to think outside the box instead of doing the "easy thing". We should be promoting sales in our city in many ways. The Berdoo bucks is a good idea, but more incentives must be offered. I suggest a "shop San Bernardino" campaign. We could use tax money to buy billboards or work with local businesses to provide revenue for marketing. Increasing our tax revenue without raising tax rates is the true answer to our budget woes.

San Bernardino needs to promote marijuana dispensaries. Make sure they're in compliance with all the laws, secure, and they'll draw a lot of business.

San Bernardino IS a marijuana dispensary.
It's also a crack dispensary, a PCP dispensary, a methamphetamine dispensary, and a breeding ground for illigitimate children, sex offenders, and parollees.

Remember when getting hired on with a city, county, or utility you were so happy. To the blue collar workers, like myself, this was a dream come true. You received good and steady pay, good bene's for you and your family, and a family enviroment where the people you worked with were there for 20-30 years. What a shame our cities, counties and states have come to in this day. Remember, Unions gave us weekends, and Veterans gave us freedom! Happy Veterans Day and thank you!
