And i wonder the same thing as another poster...what the heck costs 1500$? That is the true problem. They certain do not pay EMT staff enough to reflect that cost.

When you go to a store do you only pay for the object your buying? No you pay for employees, shipping, insurance on the building, heat, electric, security and many other things. For example I use to work at a local carpet shop and their profit margin was nearly 110 % meaning the carpet you paid $ 15.00 a yard they paid $7 a yard.
Well lets see what Life saving equipment you need to run an ambulance. An Ambulance $52,000, Heart monitor/defibulator $17,000 stretcher $4,500, medications Dont get me started on these thousands of dollars per unit and yes they expire and have to be replaced. Not to mention all the other supplies that NYS mandated they have in our Ambulance ( for a complete list of Basic Life Support supplies search and check out NYSDOH. Part 800 but keep in mind these are only the basic life support equipment.) Ohh yeah and Pay for the paramedics, health insurance, Compansation insurance after all were have the third most dangerous job behind Police and Fireman. Long gone are the days of throw the person in the back and drive fast we as Paramedics and high trained medical personel. As for Scotty who I can personally say I know him well enough that he knows my first name, If there is ever anything I can do to help him after so many years of suffering with a disease that has a life expectancy of 48 very pain full years Just ask and I will be glad to come give him a ride to the hospital.

If you REALLY cared about this guy, you would give him your cell phone number so you could give him a ride in your personal car on your own time

How much do you make, Ace ? 8 bucks an hour.

You must do it because you like to play with the siren. Are you also a volunteer fireman?

I have spent 15 years of my life volunteering my services to the public and have held almost every position in a fire department and for the record while I was an assistant chief I lobbied for my department to stop using lights and sirens for all calls due the incredible amount of danger inexperienced drivers place the public in everyday for the 15 to 30 seconds it saves on an emergency run. As for what I make I will make about $75,000 this year, I have worked in this very much thankless job because I love to help people from the time when we were paid minimum wage. For the record I hold 3 college degrees including being a Certified Surgical Tech. it is my choice to continue being a paramedic in Western New York. As for really caring I have given Thanks Giving dinner, Blankets and clothes and yes dinner on a regular basis to the homeless people in our coverage areas. What exactly have you done for the less fortunate in WNY?

Daily Horoscope for December 12

Aquarius

Ring a friend for a quick chat and you could still be on the phone an hour later, while this person yaks away non-stop with no signs of coming to a halt. It will be the same story if you see someone face to face, because they'll be garrulous in the extreme. Mind you, the same could be said of you, even though you may not be aware that you're hogging the conversational limelight.
