He is a crook, plain and simple. I'm not so quick to lop all EMA Directors in that category though.

I dont believe, from what I have read in the media, that this was as it seems. Maybe I missed something. The only crime that was admitted to was by the contractor that made the inflated bids. The story never said whether or not the County used a competitive bid for the work,or that any of the so called items were ever confiscated and compiled as evidence.I don't profess to know but I believe that as the director would have only sent along the paperwork the other checks and balances in the system failed at the State and Federal levels.Sounds to me that it's a simple case of political "fall guy" syndrome.I would almost bet that this contractor has done the same thing in other places.

It says in the article he pleaded guilty to hiding $19,000 in merchandise I assure you that if he didn't do it then he wouldn't have pleaded guilty. Allegedly One of his relatives possessed and sold the tractor to a someone off the books, and the TVs allegedly showed up at the courthouse once they were noticed missing with their use counters run well passed anything that could have been considered reasonable for "New" TVs for the emergency preparedness programs.

This is what I have heard. Colombo has made a deal. Five years in the federal penetentiary. Will have to serve four. Many people were actually involved. I understand that I mayor even resigned after being caught up in the mess. Hope that's not true.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Libra

Don't hold anything in, especially an emotional burden. The only way to drown the past is to open the floodgates. If you've got something to say, come right out and say it. The only people who might be offended by your honesty don't really matter in the grand scheme of things anyway, Libra. Great changes flow smoothly through your day. When you take charge, everyone feels at home.
