What a disaster! Two looser low quality companies merge.

Will they be staying Clifton?

Lets hope not. There are already too many dumpy outfits in this area!

In Clifton we believe in BUSINESS RETENTION. It feeds our families and helps our taxes. I'm for them and other companies to stay put. JOBS,JOBS, JOBS.

This is a filthy dirty old school industry that only contributes pollution and muck. We need hip new century stuff here like go go bars and slaughter houses! You know the high tech silicon valley stuff!

Never mind your silly comments Chip. Good industry benefits the community with ratables and helps provide for quality schools and public works. Looking at the way the roads are maintained around here, we need these ratables. What we need around here is a good Grey Goose manufacturing distillery. Everybody likes booze and the money it generates. If they build a distillery in the area, I personally promise to help out by supporting our local industry by buying the products they produce (notably Grey Goose please!). Never let it be said that I don’t care about the little people.

It sounds to me like you know nothing about business at all. The rateable value broadly represents the yearly rent the property could have been let for on the open market on a particular date. Apart from properties which are exempt from business rates, each non-domestic property has a rateable value. Since distilleries are exempt in NJ, this would do little to benefit the “little people”. It also sounds to me like you have a substance abuse problem. You should seek some help for this before you hurt yourself or someone else!
You should also be aware that the West Dunbartonshire Council has in place a reporting facility for people aware of wrongdoing within the Council. As a public figure, you should know this (and keep it in mind). |

Bye the way Roy G, the reason the alcohol industry is exempt is because when YOU buy your evil cocktails, you pay special sin taxes at the register. They consider it double dipping if they hit the manufacturer with property taxes. Therefore – tax exempt!

We purchased our home in April of 08. The taxes were 10k at the time. We changed out the kitchen cabinets and added a double vanity to the bathroom. Clifton came to assess the home and now I'm paying like 11.5K in taxes. My neighbor did more extensive renovations inside and out and their land is much larger than ours. They're paying like 9.5k. I want to appeal my taxes b/c I think the amount is unfair. What is the best way to prove this? Does anyone know if it’s worth it? They also said they have to come to the home every 2 years to see if we did improvements- is this true? Then a distillery can come into town and not pay property taxes? You have got to be kidding me! Maybe I can start home brewing beer so I don’t have to pay property taxes either! Let the printers stay. They may be a foul stinky lot with ink under their nails, but at least they pay their fair share.

If they were to open a distillery instead of a print shop, I would give serious consideration to opening up another of my Abdullah the Butcher's House of Ribs & Chinese Food restaurants. This would attract my kinda folks to town. Big spenders, big drinkers, big partiers! Woohoo!!!

How is it possible that this Kay distillery doesn't pay taxes? I thought the term lithocrapy had to do with an intestinal problem?
