YWCA to close Clawson site after half-century
The YWCA, continuing to face declining membership that caused it to close its main branch in Detroit earlier this year, now has decided to shutter its Clawson facility -- its sole site in Oakland County, which has operated for more than 50 years.
The YWCA Oakland Branch will be more Oakland, and less Clawson, beginning Jan. 1. The YWCA's home for more than seven decades, between 13 Mile and 14 Mile at 839 S. Crooks, is for sale.
