To compensate for water going into a canal the Sacramento River have to be kept at a higher rate of flow. That will mean a higher elevation in the river. The higher elevation will result in massive seepage damage upstream all the way to Red Bluff.
Every community and landowner on both sides of the river will file class action law suits that will add up to far more than what it will cost to build the canal.
They should build an alternate route for that water. It was proposed in 1982 and it is still a valid alternate.
Jerry Browns answer to the problem with the river was emminant domain sizure and create the Great Sacramento River Parkway. One mile swath on each side of the river and a hundred miles long. 200 square miles of farmland turned to a park.

"If they take something from us, they've got to give us something in return." don't hold your breath waiting for something in return, history likes to repeat itself, think about who occupied that land prior to it being settled-whatever that means-by the pioneers. Its funny, hope you get just as screwed.

This moron Brown is the same pathetic clown that started re-naming all of the state prisons when he was "governor." He wanted them called "vocational institutes" and "medical facilities" so the name PRISON wouldn't show. DUUUHHHHH... How anyone can take this ultra left wing extremist liberal seriously is beyond imagination.

So what are you saying, will the farmers get to start opening casino's? Maybe if they turn the delta area in to a swamp they can have riverboat casino's.....

Jerry Brown what a goofball - they should have term limits across the board. If you serve as a governor, senator, representative, attorney general or whatever - it should be four years of service in any capacity, then you are done for good - no exceptions.......

There is always much wisdom that can be gained by observing the lives of others; you can avoid certain mistakes by watching them made by others. In this case, you may be faced with financial or sexual issues as Neptune and Chiron shake things up in your eighth house of sex, money, and power... if the stakes are high, you need to think twice. The Moon enters Gemini as the day goes on, causing you to look within.
