McCormick County has three post offices on a United States Postal Service list of sites under consideration for potential closure, and local and state lawmakers have expressed concern about this potential loss of service and the future of mail.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has been awarded $9.2 million in grants from the Federal Highway Administration for 11 projects across South Carolina, and one locally Hamilton State Recreation Area at Clarks Hill tops the list with a $2.5 million grant.

DaJaun Willingham, 15, of Clarks Hill, died at about 10:30 p.m. following the wreck on Mill Creek Drive, according to Edgefield County Coroner Thurmond Burnett.

Authorities say a 15-year-old McCormick County teen has died after his all-terrain vehicle crashed into a tree.
