Prosecutor says no charges in death of deputy
A prosecutor says he won't seek charges against a 21-year-old woman whose vehicle crashed into a sheriff deputy and killed him.
Washburn County District Attorney Mike Bitney says the crash wasn't caused by a cell phone distraction, alcohol or drugs. He says the death of Chippewa County Deputy Jason Zunker was a 'tragic accident.'
Zunker was hit on Jan. 4 while directing traffic at the scene of a semi truck fire in the western Wisconsin town of Woodmohr. The 31-year-old died the next day of head injuries he sustained in the crash. Read more
