Public services at risk around Va., survey says

Full story: Richmond Times-Dispatch

Take $60 million out of Chesterfield County's $1.2 billion budget, and these are some of the things that could disappear: jobs for 225 teachers and 32 school resource officers, 30 firefighters and 30 police officers; four libraries and a couple of fire stations; and 10 government and public school departments, including health, planning, finance ...

looked at your possible list of cut backs or possible losses, and dont see your thinking. dont see any reason for cuting any job's' other than the police department. actually" a cut back there of probably 200 to three hundred, would never be missed.

there is absolutely no reason to spread such probable cut's, thru out' the whole county system' by just trying to be fair, and cuting a few all across the board.

be straight up and honest, and target or pick the department that is most heavly loaded down with people that are a burden to the county, that serve no real purpose' and are nothing more than a way for the county to disrespect and harrass, it's citizen's.

It's never an easy decision when there is a budget issue like this. But Red Dog, do you think that all of the cuts should be made w/in the police dept? Perhaps spreading it around a bit more would be more equitable.

well" considering the level of neccessity and value to the county, the police department' is the only one that the county could just about get rid of completely.

the state of va in it's self, and in particular V.DOT has an ongoing cut back, and lay off's. first and for most they are seeking out whole departments in some cases, and eliminating them completely' or cuting them back to skeleton crews.

that is my reason for naming or targeting the county police department. they are at least 50 percent over stafed, and a lot of times are like monkey's hanging out of trees, harrassing the people. the police department, has never stoped one robbery or killing. but yet this year alone they have abused their authority several times by killing some of the countys citizens, out of rash judgements.
