Instead of textbooks and lectures, hands-on learning will define a high school option coming to Rogers in 2013.

Matt McClure, superintendent of Cross County Schools in Cherry Valley, Ark., and Liliana Aguas, a teacher at Leconte Elementary School in Berkeley, Calif., were announced as winners of ASCD's prestigious 2012 Outstanding Young Educator Award.

Teachers from Arkansas and California have been named winners of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's 2012 Outstanding Young Educator Award.

Founded in Napa, Calif., in 1996, New Tech is made up of 86 public high schools in 16 states, including Arkansas' Lincoln High School and Cross County High School in Cherry Valley.
