1 I totally agree with ya ! I wonder how much money the Murphys paid to the mag. just to get pictures of their mansion made public. Not to mention a picture of her fat ass in the kitchen ! |

I do not care to see either the mansion or her in the kitchen. Why don't they do a layout of my house with the dingy walls, the worn out furniture and the mismatched dollar store plates? Uplift the community a little bit and make them feel better about themselves. I hope this Avenues rag has seen its best day.

I can handle it.

ROFLMAO how long has Areawide been in business? I am thinking like way over 60 years. It don't look like they will be goin anywhere.. sorry.. I love SRSG but Avenues was classier by far.. |
Most sensible thing I have heard seen BP, but Areawide has been putting out magazines for years, just specials not monthlys.. hello, they do print things there |

I agree with you on this. No one wants to see someones house in a local magazine. Just another way to flount themselves, and rub it in our face, they have more money than the rest of us. |

Main thing I didn't like was their promoting their own businesses in the article. I am sure the house was a tax write off for all the businesses. It is a nice house of course. But wouldn't it have been nice to have a house that had been decorated by someone that didn't own the business!

Thank you! Not only classier, but without all the typos!!! Jody really needs to get with it and have someone proof his rag mag. And while he's at that he could try using newspaper columns for easier reading - was proven a long time ago that justified margins makes the reading easier on the eyes!!! |

1 Probably nothing. The magazine, like everything else around here, is based on who you are. |
I dont care |

I just read an issue of it that was sitting at the doctors office and I liked it. To each his/her own.

You cant write off your house if you dont do business out of it. They dont and they cant write it off, that was a silly thing to write. |

How wonderful that our area can actually support two local magazines, don't you think? There is certainly enough business to go around and if you advertise in both you will certainly reach all venues and walks of life. It is possible to write off your home for business and business related entertainment, etc. but not 24-7. It gets complicated. I would agree with you about it being a tacky post and also none of anyone elses business. I wish both magazines great success and welcome them to the Spring River area...

It is possible, i suppose, but not probable. you see, with the IRS you have to give exact measurements of the area within which you conducted the business (square feet, percentage of the home) and it has to be strictly for business activity, not socializing for business. I can almost hear the IRS agents coming down the drive. hahahahaha |

In my opinion, SRSG magazine is the best magazine that has been in our area for a VERY long time. Avenues didn't even appear until after SRSG started doing so well and it seems like they are trying to run them out of business..BUT THEY WON'T! I don't really know much about graphics and all of that stuff, but I can tell that Avenues is made up of boring stories that no one really cares about and grapics that need to be fixed, especially when it comes to cutting people out. Also, they need to STOP stealing SRSG's ads and ideas and come up with their own.
I am guessing as a reader of both magazines, that since the company that puts out Avenues is a printing company that has been in business since the 50's, they might be a little more stable financially and to me the pages or ads look nothing like SRSG, they are not as blurry and distorted or stretched out. The man that owns it is a good photographer, but needs to go back to spelling class and learn grammar. I see no reason both can't survive in the area. It looks like they both try to reach different audiences, SRSG the partiers and younger crowd, and Avenues to a thirty and up generation and retirees, which is something SRSG doesn't seem to cover. I wish them both luck in their business and wish everyone would leave it alone. |
