Chelmsford water customers cry foul over bills for planned treatment plant
Like the majority of her neighbors, Maureen Kelley said she never received a notice to vote on a $7.8 million wastewater-treatment plant.

Maybe this is the wakeup call the people in North Chelmsford need to get rid of the Water District. What an inefficient use of money. But it serves them right for allowing the water commissioners to operate without oversight for so long. Aren't there legal procedures that have to be followed for a government agency to borrow money? I wonder if their attorney has looked into that. Maybe they should look into a recall too.

Yup, Thats North Chelmsford for you. Have you ever turned on your water in the morning and got that horrendous smell? Has anybody from N Chelmsford been getting sick lately? I believe that they know their is a major problem with the water quality and they are not disclosing all the info to the public. Wait 5-10 years and half the kids will have Leukemia or something like what happened on the south shore. Also thank God that the override failed,
this town is a nightmare. I really dont see how their is no State funding for this job and how they can just slap a bill on the homeowners. Ill drink bottled water thank you!!!! |

Lets see......3 water districts means...3 offices....3 sets of trucks.....3 plants......3 payrolls......Thats efficiency! NOT!

I agree, there is definately some massive overspending being done here. But no surprise based upon what goes on in the schools. Are they breaking the town into burroughs now? Will each get its own police force? |

The chickens, as they say, always come home to roost. The N. Chelmsford water commissoiners have been very vocal individually about the supposed "corruption" and corrupt politicians in Chelmsford. It is hard to imagine how any group could be more devious and underhanded as this stultified crew of incompetents. Add a large dose of arrogance with a "we know better than you" attitude, and you have a great case for a recall. All three water disstricts should be merged into one, and this looks like the place to start.

Why do the water dept employees get to thake their trucks home? Why doesn't Chelmsford have one water dept? It seems to me that the people of Chelmsford should really start protesting and not on this site but at Town Hall.

Hey Chelmsford resident, ever hear of the Clean Water Act?

Typical crooked Chelmford politics, hold a vote but only invite the people that will vote your way

The N. Chelmsford Water District Office is a must see on anyones to do list. They have stuffed moose heads, deer heads, heads of a few people they just do not like handing from the walls. You show up at the place during the meetings and it is like going back in time. They do what the please - and do not try and cross them. Your head will be next on the wall. If it was run in a more professional manner - maybe people would take their requests more seriously. But they all seem like a bunch of angry old men and the manager over there may not be old - but does seem quite grumpy. Maybe it is the water that made them that way. Bring it from Lowell.....and save some money and give up some of your power.

You must understand a politicians first and foremost objective is to get re-elected. Their second objective is to increase the size of the domain over which they rule. Their third objective is to get something built that has a plaque with their name on it so history will not forget their great and glorious contribution.

I have north chelmsford water, what should I be doing to help stop this outrageous behavior, I was not informed of a plant being built, does anyone know how much it cost and who to contact to get a well put in, I don't need this, I already can't make the real estate taxes with my pay check and I don't drink the town water for obvious reasons to anyone who lives in Chelmsford.

Learn from Chelmsford: Tax Payers thought Mass are under seige by the State, trying to feed it's thousands of policital leeches, with construction projects funded now by their new tool "Debt Exclusion", a add on debt. Massive borrowing way into the future is the Wall Street problem. Stop Borrowing.
I've learned Politics is simple spend and borrow, and buy votes, it's so painless when you start. |

It would be great if the Lowell Sun could publish how a resident of N.Chelmsford can vote in the N. Chelmsford District. Their rules are quite odd. If you own a piece of property there but do not live there - you can't vote.

How about the N. Chelmsford water dept employee who got separated from his wife and just lived at the water dept. Free rent and a paycheck not a bad deal huh.
