Obviously you are not very bright because you failed to see the point. Again, you are right in the fact that I do not know you....I mearly made an assumption of you....much like the one you did about all LA firfighters. I'm sure you have an immaculate record. Much like our political people in office who claim that they too have an immaculate record. As for researching I think you should do more in depth reaserch yourself. Your statements fail to show both sides of the coin. You just want to run with the most conveniant point of view for you. You almost sound like the staff writer for the Daily news desguised as "Pit Bull".

If you were to really dig up the facts you would see that the amount that you previously stated was for a few people. A few people who hardly leave the job to serve thier community. These people either dont have a family and can afford such a work habit or just simply want to spend as much time as they can on the job for whatever reason they please. Another factor that you fail to see is that most of these spots are open because of the retirees. As they work to fill these vacant spots obviously firefighters will have to fill these positions. Now that the city has stopped hiring new firefighters those vacant spots will eventually lead to more vacant spots. So would you suggest that we not hire firefighters to back fill those vacant spots? Or should we let them run short. How about we recycle the fire station memebers to other station that are also short and close your neighborhood fire station!!!

So think about this....if I was to put a new class of firefighter through and each person were to be at a cost of about $8,000 and that most classes hold 40-50 probationary firefighters how much would that cost the tax payers??? 400,000 dollars!! Now you may say," Well that money can be spent on hiring new firefighters as opposed to paying those who make $200,000". Well did you ever think that those each of those new memebers will now have to get medical ,dental, vision, pension on top of their regular salary that would bring the cost of hiring new memebrs to an all time high??? Did you ever think of that??? Obviously not...you never spent the time to research it. You mearly ran with someone else's idea because you are bitter at firefighters. Just shows your lack common sense.

The other readers are right. He will pay for the mistake that he did. As for those that share you point of view are evidently upset at a particular person who is a firefighter. Evry occupation has more than one bad apple and in time will get caught. So my suggestion to you is that you should do your research first before opening your trap. Its all public record. Your link showed one way of looking into it but again you fail to show the other side of the coin through out your comments.

Will you call when you have a bad accident or your house is burning or a family memeber that is close to you who is in need of medical attention? Will you refrain from calling them so you wont be taken advantage of by these crooked "heroes" in LA? You obviously have issues that I dont know of but I just hope you never need their help, which you will eventually if it is that you already havent.

Ha Ha Ha Ha, you dont know one darn thing about me. It so happens I have an immaculate record and I would never dream of being a firefighter. I would never want to be a firefighter because I would not want to feel the pressure to take advantage of taxpayers from fellow firefighters bilking the system to the tune of over $200,000 dollars in overtime pay. Heres a link to the Daily News article that highlights the abuse of taxpayers by our LA firefighter heroes:

Next time, find out whats really going on with these crooked "heroes" in LA and do some research before you start writing nonsense.

"A few people who hardly leave the job to serve thier community"

You firefighters are nothing but a bunch of crooks. You're not there to serve the community.
You guys only objective is to inflate your time cards as much as possible for any little thing.
you shouldnt be paid extra for doing the job you're already supposed to do, which is fight fires, respond to emergencies.
thats your name, you guys are fire fighters, so go out and fight fires, not be a bunch of crooks and demand extra pay to do something you're already supposed to do.
and where is you guys accountability?
you guys let over 500 homes burn to the ground in the Sayre fire. what a disgrace! You guys should all be Fired!!! You guys have no incentive to put out fires cause the longer it takes to put them out, the more money you guys get to pocket. what a racket!

Instead you guys just take more and more from hard working tax payers.
Union thug criminals!!!

Prosecutors allege that Fire Inspector Dennis Martin Archie accepted or solicited bribes ranging from $500 to $2,000 from operators of nursing care facilities run out of private homes in Burbank, Chatsworth, Northridge, Reseda, West Hills and Winnetka.
Burbank, is Burbank in the City of Los Angeles? Doesn't Burbank have its own fire department and its own fire inspectors? Why is LAFD doing inspections in Burbank?

Archie was inspecting board and care facilities, not nursing homes. Board and care has no nursing; just room and board care services.

It's only fair to bust restaurant inspectors that solicit bribes and then hopefully building inspectors, but the case of the building inspectors is infinitely harder because money flows to the City Council person.
