Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a stabbing during a north Charlotte party that left another man with life threatening injuries.

Community leaders in Villa Heights said they've been trying to work with the city to fix up the homes for years.

At a special City Council meeting on affordable housing Wednesday, council members and the public leafed through a handout on Charlotte's recent housing history and policies.

It's been a strategy for cutting crime in Charlotte for the last four years -- target repeat offenders and make sure they don't have a chance to commit more crimes.

Craig Lane loves his 1930's bungalow in Charlotte's Plaza Midwood neighborhood. "It is 81 years old now," said Lane.
