New Orleans and Katrina go hana in hand if your looking at how gov't and nature can produce a racial quagmire of epic proportions. It's been 4 years since Katrina and the area is still a dump. Those who want to and CAN afford to rebuild, want to do so without the fear of low-income and yes the crimminal element associated with it brought back into the area. Yet they can't do to rights groups screaming discimination and racism. I say let the place rot. I'm so tired of hearing about the plight of the "poor and downtrooden". Most CHOOSE to be poor. The others have been waiting for the the gov't to save them. I got news for them. You've got a long wait ahead. The gov't is responsible for the majority of poverty in this country to begin with. They've been telling the poor and blacks they're going to get them out of the slums for 40+ years and where are they? Still in the slums only now there are more of them. If most of these people would have taken it upon themselves to get out and not depended on a gov't that needs them right where they are to continue to control them with promises of a better life "If you just vote for us". Most would be better off today. Not to mention there families. The gov't needs the poor to a degree to justify its existance. The sooner ALL of us realize WE are the answer and we are the way to a better life NOT gov't the better we'll all be. Black, white, red, brown, yellow, and everyone else in between. GOV'T IS NOT THE ANSWER!
