Chalmette Residents Complain Of Flooding

Murphy Oil demonstrates a total disregard for the people of St Bernard Parish. After Katrina, there was little to no humanitarian relief for residents- only miscommunications about oil contamination. Meanwhile this oil corporation let the local council decide how to distribute a $5 million dollar payment. This was followed by a land grab buyup of property for a ""green zone buffer"" and denial of private property rights for anyone in the buyup area. Now Murphy states its up to the council to decide what can be constructed in a greenzone; guess that's the $5 million dollar question which Murphy must think they've already answered.

where's the DEQ? EPA? they've had this information since June ! allowing the oil refinery to drain dangerous chemicals into Jacob Canal ! are we waiting for a Love Canal ? and allowing just anyone to dig, what would have happened if they had ruptured the pipeline?

EXXON's representative rudely refused to speak with the residents. Murphy Oil would meet in committee but only with attorney's and pre-approved topics, Yet,the issues remain unresolved.

where's St Bernard Parish officials? lets see, the councilman works at Murphy Oil and the Parish President allows Murphy Oil to operate under Murphy Oil's Law instead of St Bernard Parish Codes. if Murphy Oil donates large sums of money to the parish, then we turn our heads to violations? and attempt to censor media reports on the refinery?

where does it stop? where is this neighborhood's rights?
