There have been a raft of staff changes at Denso Manufacturing Michigan Inc. , a Battle Creek-based supplier of automotive thermal systems and components, has announced several associate promotions: Rob O'Brien , of Kalamazoo, has been promoted to Team Leader of Radiator Braze.

'This is fantastic,' said Sheila Scheick of Ceresco. 'Anything to get them out of the house and not playing video games.' Nearby her granddaughter, Melanie Ball, 7 of Battle Creek, was trying to swivel her hips enough to keep a hula hoop circling her waist.

Waynesfield John J. Smith, 83, of Battle Creek, Mich., formerly of Waynesfield, died peacefully April 8, 2012, at his residence.
