Suffolk lawmakers vote to quadruple hotel/motel tax

Sep. 17--In a move to prop up Suffolk's struggling museums, the county legislature voted Thursday to quadruple the county's hotel/motel tax to 3 percent, despite pleas from Montauk hotel owners that it will drive away customers and do nothing for their local attractions.
