DEPUTIES: Cold Ear-Biting Case Solved After Recent Similar Crime
A recent case of an ear-biting bar fight has led to an arrest in a cold case with very similar circumstances.

The town has notified Carteret County that it will likely find an alternative for regular building inspection services beginning with the next fiscal year, providing the required 90-day notice should the town decide to end its contract with the county.
One-stop voting begins Thursday
One-stop absentee voting, also known as early voting, opens Thursday and continues through May 5. Election Day is May 8. Voters in Onslow County will have two locations available for their early voting convenience: Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center or Tar Landing Baptist Church.

Renovated water access now open
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission announced Friday that renovations at the Cedar Point Boating Access Area on N.C. 24 are complete and the access is now open to the public for use.
