A home that caught fire at 220 Fish Lake Road Wednesday afternoon was saved thanks to the efforts of firefighters from three departments.

The identity of human skeletal remains discovered in Cana on April 1 are still unknown, but officials with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department now believe the remains are of an Hispanic male.

HILLSVILLE, Va. - Sentencing was delayed Thursday for a Surry County man who has admitted to robbing payday-lending businesses in Cana in 2007 because a bank was foreclosing on his house.

Even though the Cana Volunteer Fire Department operates without any fire district tax money, and are only funded by the board of supervisors in Carroll County, it still managed to lower its ISO rating from a 9-10 to a 6-9 rating, meaning homeowner's insurance rates should come down soon.
