Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Salton Sea
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Saturday morning three miles from Niland east of the Salton Sea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Prison worker accused of smuggling cellphones, tobacco to inmates
A 28-year-old employee of the state prison at Calipatria in Imperial County has been indicted on suspicion of taking $33,600 in bribes to smuggle cellular telephones and tobacco products to prisoners, the U.S. attorney's office announced Tuesday.
