'Explosives Threat Bandit' charged in string of robberies
A man known as the "Explosives Threat Bandit" for threatening tellers with a bomb device was charged last week in a string of bank heists he allegedly pulled off in the Los Angeles area.

Capitol Alert: Prison cities growing as California adds nearly 251,000 people
California saw modest population growth last year, and the biggest boomtowns by percentage were two prison cities, according to a new release from the state Department of Finance .
Missing hikers rescued from Red Rock Canyon
Two hikers have been rescued from red rock canyon east of Bakersfield. Search and Rescue located them overnight at Last Chance Canyon near Highway 14, just north of California City.
