Bike trail at Champoeg State Heritage Area ends with a treat

French Prairie towns that time forgot
This is a photograph of Butteville's Main Street in August 1914. The historic town near what is now Champoeg State Park has the oldest operating store in Oregon, the Butteville Store.
Champoeg State Heritage Area is known primarily for its history. The site where Oregon's first provisional government was formed in 1843 features historic buildings, museums and each summer stages re-enactments with park staff dressed in 19th-century costume.
Historic Butteville Store kicks off sesquicentennial
