Jefferson man pleads guilty to sex assaults

To bad that that is all he got as a prison sentence. He deserves a life time imprisonment. If that was my daughter, well I will not even go there. I believe that the parents should do the sentencing once one is proven guilty. At least one should have the satisfaction that his soul will burn in hell for eturnity. Yet that still doesn't justify it on earth. What will he be doing when he is released? Assulting again????

That boy shoud have had a choir in his arsenal. <aybe he would have done much less time.

Mark Eric Shaffer obviously is no friend of the Mayor nor a member of Blazing Star. There is a big difference between a few weeks in the local pokie and 30 years in the State Guesthouse. Maybe the new D.A and a different judge played a role. These were little girls, but rape of a child is still rape no matter how you twist it.

Not sure what makes this guy different but, if you notice in the article, they were careful this time to note the family was aware of the plea but not the terms. Maybe they learned something from the DA lying in the Rasely case about the family agreeing to the plea.

Also Shaffer's style is to give lighter sentences to sex offenders from the Rasely case forward. I don't think he and his brother Peter want it obvious that they helped out their prominent friend Don and nobody else. They tied their own hands.

Different D.A. Different Judge. No prominent friends. What more has to be said?

The vastly different sentences (and not just in this case. but others since the Rasely trial) prove beyond doubt that Rasely was a beneficiary of local politics/connections. If he were doing what this guy is going to do (15-30 in the State penitentiary), the other forum would been out of existence long ago. It also makes it obvious that Don Rasely has not "paid his debt to society" or "did his time," as his supporters claim. On the plus side, I have to believe that Goldinger is aware of the outrage over Rasely and is not going to stroll down that lane for anyone.
