The Souris River flood in 2011 was rough on a lot of people and businesses, but a Minot campground stuck it out and is quickly getting back to normal after a year that was anything but.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple toured Burlington, Minot and Ward County Monday morning to get a first-hand look at the progress being made after the devastating Souris River flood of 2011.

Flood recovery doesn`t take place overnight. It`s been a long time coming in Ward County, where the Souris River made a mess of several communities.

A tragedy for Minot was also something of a boon for Minot State University associate professor Mikhail Bobylev and his team of student researchers.
