Gang Member Gets Life In 16-Year-Old Girl's Murder
A member of the once-powerful Vineland Boyz gang, who admitted his involvement in the 2003 murder of a teenage girl and other crimes to avoid the death penalty, was sentenced Monday to life in federal prison.
In handing down the life term for 22-year-old Javier Covarrubias of Sun Valley, U.S. District Judge John Walter called the young man's crimes "most heinous and most despicable."
