Health Hero makes fitness big part of life
“It does promote healthy lifestyles, and it is wheelchair-accessible”
Kristey Williams 'retired' -- her word -- from teaching and went to work.
Since she became a stay-at-home mom, she has started a fitness program, encouraged others to take on fitness challenges and led a campaign to build Play Park Pointe, a multistory, castle-like accessible playground at Augusta's City Lake.
And she's been elected Augusta's first female mayor. She took office in April.
Williams, 36, was honored last week as Kansas' fourth Hometown Health Hero, an award given by the Governor's Council on Fitness as part of the Healthy Kansas initiative. Read more
