OK, where do the theft of services and robbery charges come into play. They obviously gave the driver more than the fare. They didnt try to ride&run on him. Or did they take their money back out of his hand, pocket after they beat him? Why isnt there any assault or battery charges?

the fact remains, the poor cabbie had the snot beaten out of him. It doesn't matter if he didn't have a license to drive a cab or whatever else the defendant will use to clear his "good name".

Beating up someone is a crime. Plain and simple. He deserves to do the time and pay a penalty.
