ATLANTA – The Atlanta Botanical Garden's Circle Members and Peachtree Hills Place members met last week at Peachtree Hills Place to celebrate the success of the past year for the Atlanta Botanical Garden, specifically for it's 2008 Garden of Eden Ball.

Peachtree Hills Place members lent their support to the Atlanta Botanical Garden through the Presenting Sponsorship of the Ball earlier this fall. Peachtree Hills Place is an upscale residential community in Buckhead for people ages 55 and older seeking a secure, independent lifestyle.

Many Peachtree Hills Place members personally support the Atlanta Botanical Garden, so the sponsorship was a natural fit. The event, for the Garden's upper level donors only, the Orchid, Magnolia and Arbor Circle members, was a cocktail party with food and beverages provided by Paul's Restaurant.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony and afterwards the park will officially open.

The first phase includes a 4.75-acre lake plus seven additional acres that feature a boardwalk/fishing pier structure, two gazebos, a 13,000 sq. ft. playground, pavilions, a restroom building, 0.33-mile paved multi-purpose trail and two half-court basketball courts.

“The residents in the Club Dr. area were really involved in the planning for this park and are really looking forward to having a special purpose neighborhood park, “ said Park Operations Director Sharon Plunkett. “It’s a great place to come and unwind with a walk in the park or bring the kids to play on the large playground or basketball courts.”

Designed by Lose & Associates, Inc. and constructed by Astra Group, Inc., the $2.6 million Club Drive Park was funded by the 2005 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

Club Drive Park is located at 3330 Club Drive in Lawrenceville and will be open daily from dawn to dusk.
