Officials with the state Department of Environment and Conservation have been investigating crude oil leaking out of the ground off Brush Creek Road since January.

At his home in Brush Creek, about 50 miles west of Nashville, his family kept an assortment of creatures - dogs, cats, rabbits, even chickens - and the woods that stretched behind their property teemed with wildlife.
