One of the rings was a piece of costume jewelry, according to Tom Fenton, a captain with the Salvation Army of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, but the other was an antique platinum and diamond wedding ring valued at up to $1,400. "You expect people to be generous at Christmas," he said.
