Swine flu victim's family to sue WHC

Doctors need to know when its time to admit a patient into the hospital and if they don't then maybe a HEFTY LAWSUIT will remind them.

Doctors seem to like to hurry and get patients out of the way so they can move onto the next patient, and of course throw some drugs at them to make it look like they did something for the patient.

Hate to say that if it was one of the doctors family members things would have turned out different. The doctor would have admitted the family member and taken things much more seriously.

To all the "Doctors" out there: Take things a lot more seriously with your patients and don't be so anxious to get them out of your office so you can move onto the next victom. START PAYING ATTENTION TO THIS FLU VIRUS SO YOU DON'T KILL ANYMORE PEOPLE. This young lady was a mother of young children who now have no mother....these kids will never be the same.

...JUST THINK WHAT THINGS WILL BE LIKE IF WE GET HEALTH REFORM THAT EVENTUALLY TURNS INTO A SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM...MORE DEATH AND WORSE HEALTHCARE.

This is a perfect example why everyone should stop going to woodland hospital, it has the worst reputation for prognosticating people, you could arrive bleeding to death or very ill, and all they will do is send you home with advil, or ibprofin for the pain. I have gone there on 2 ocations in the past, 1 for dehydration, they never disgnosticated me, i had to do it myself after going home and ckecking online what my symptoms were and i treated myself, they just kept me in the bed for 15 hrs finaly they decide to put me on I-V, after am hour or so they take me off and send me home with tylenol, still in pain.
the other time, i broke a rib after i fell off a horse, i told them i was in intense pain when i moved around or did anything, they never xrayed me or nothing, they just told me my muscles and body were brused up, and thats why it hurt when i moved, and again sent me home with tylenol. Ever since then i always decided to diagnosticate and treat myself at home, with doing simple research online.

If you ever feel its an emergency and must go to hospital, trust me its well worth the trip going to the davis hospital, if you want to be properly diagnosticated and treated right away.'

I concur Kano. Stop going to Woodland Memorial people! I strongly advise anyone who goes there to get a second opinion elsewhere for any sickness minor or not. I have heard way too many stories. My childrens father broke his arm and WHC told his mother they would have to amputate. Like any good mother would do, she wanted to avoid her son going thru life without an arm so she took him to UCD and today he has a fully functioning arm albeit a scar. UCD didnt even consider amputation. Goes to show...

My heart breaks for this family. I also have a 30 year old daughter who has two small children. I can't even imagine their pain. School is going back in session next week. Even a small town like Esparto is not immune to the Swine / H1N1 flu. Parents need to keep their children home if not feeling well and instruct your child to sanitize their hands throughout the day.

This is a CHW facility. We live in Folsom and they are bad there too. We have had to be our own advocates there, too. They deserve to be sued. My sympathy to the family.

This family has very bad luck. Houses burnt down, and family deaths.

A few years ago my mother went into Woodland Memorial with chest pains and it was hard for her to breath. They gave he medication for asthma. Hour later she had a massive heart attack and almost died.
My family knows that if anything happens to me they are to take me to Sutter Davis or Mercy in Sacramento. Woodland Memorial needs to be investigated.

At this point I think anyone should be at high rist, not just the elderly, small children and those with health problems. I am urging anyone who feels like they have the flu to be checked and be persistant about it. WHC please take this seriosly, I knew Stacey and she was in perfect health!

Oh my heart aches for these children, I recognized the mothers name, 2002, I believe she lost her husband in a car accident, widowed, now her children are orphaned.....Prays for these children, God's hand of protection on them.....

My condolences to the Hernandez Family.. Those two beautiful children will grow up with out their mother. Don't even get me started about WHC they are the worst hopital I was ready to file a law suit too for a misdiagnosis on a family member..

Never go to Woodland Healthcare. Ive worked there in the past. The hospital gives horrible care! Sutter is the way to go if you want good care.

Mercy in Sac is the same company as WHC (CHW Catholic Healthcare West) so dont be fooled. They have the same policies and practices. Ive worked for the clinic connected to them as well as WHC. Please if somethings wrong go to SUTTER! its worth the extra 10min drive.

They also need to sue the CDC for not having a separate high risk groups list for Novel H1N1. The CDC high risk groups are based on the regular seasonal flu, which is not the same as for Novel H1N1, esp in regards to age groups at risk of severe infection. CDC needs to have a separate risk group list for Novel H1N1.

She was an EMT. That alone should have warranted action - wouldn't you consider these people High Risk?! They have repeated exposure to all kinds of illness. Her children must be extremely proud of her, my heart breaks for them.

And that's why we got the hell out of Woodland Healthcare period. SUTTER is the way to go. Woodland's Healthcare needs an overhaul period. The Doctors, the Receptionists, the bedside manner, the lack of privacy. Anyone knows that in that small town, if you go into any health care facility, no matter for what, the health care is sadly lacking. Speaking from personal experience. I went in for a "personal" matter Gynecologist and certain personnel who WORK there, rumored around I had an abortion....what a travesty, it's not at all the procedure. They mixed up my daughters' records, misdiagnosed a friend of mine's baby that died because of the misdiagnosis. If you have Woodland healthcare you need to change. Out of date equipment, uneducated personnel, bedside manner is atrocious. Davis Sutter just have the experience all the way around. Screw Woodland Healthcare.

My prayers for Stacey's family members. When will they get that this is nothing to take lightly. And those of you who feel sick with a cold and cough, and then feel fluish. Go to healthcare immediately, don't mess around. Just drive far around Woodland to another health facility.

This is a tragic story. It is made sadder by the lack of editing of this article! I can't beleive that this paper can't invest in reading its own articles before publishing. It's embarrassing!

I agree. LOVE Sutter, definitely the best around. WHC should be ashamed.

I feel so bad for the family, I too have had my share of horror stories there. I took my wife there because of a nuerological problem. As a retired Paramedic I knew the signs so as we sat there the intake nurse didn't seem concerned and barely spoke english. When he couldn't spell simple medical terms we walked out and went to another hospital where they took charge immediately, she was having a stroke plus they found a brain tumor. We had already wasted valuable time in the mess that is WHC, luckily all turned out ok AFTER we went to another hospital.
